ICC CHALLENGE LEAGUE 2- MATCH SUMMARY
Match Day: 4- vs Kuwait
Date: 04/10/24
Barras defeated Kuwait by 8 wickets after the PNG bowlers destroyed the Kuwait batting line up at the Ruaraka Sports Club oval in Kenya.
The PNG Barramundis captain Assad Vala won the toss and sent the Kuwait boys team to have first use of the pitch with the bat. This decision paid huge dividends as PNG in-form bowlers Kabua Morea(4/21) and Man of the Match Alei Nao(4/17) tore through the Kuwait early order and then through the middle order, both relentless in their line and length. Nosiana Pokana (2/21), coming in for Micheal Charlie, also continued the onslaught with the Kuwat boys having no answer for the Barras pace and swing. The Kuwait team found it difficult to handle the tight PNG bowling and were eventually all out for a disappointing 65 on the 22.1 overs.
In the PNG Barramundis innings, they made light work of the Kuwait score with Sese Bau (32 off 26 balls) leading from the front, punishing anything pitched up and short. Bau’s opening partner Tony Ura was not as destructive, getting out cheaply on 6 runs. Despite losing Bau and Ura, the Barras passed the small total with Gaudi Toka(8 not out) and Charles Amini junior(9 not out) playing sensibly to win the game for the Barras in the 10th over.
PNG Barramundis coach Tatenda Taibu was a very happy man and said he was proud of the boys for the clinical performance.
