CRICKET PNG’S JUNIOR SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM “MALOLO CRICKET COMPETITION” PLAYS HARD BALL AND IS HAILED A SUCCESS.
171 Teams compete in 8 Provinces Throughout Papua New Guinea
Cricket PNG’s Junior School Holiday Program better known as the “Malolo School Holiday Competition,” has been a tremendous success, and the numbers prove it according to Cricket PNG’s Senior Domestic Manager Mr. Lakani Oala
171 Teams in 41 Competitions across 22 playing centers, in 8 provinces, and all teams consisting of a minimum of 11 players, run though 6 age groups both female and male, from under 13 to under 19.
Lakani Oala with Rodney Maha-CPNG’s Talent Identification Manager have just completed the highly successful “Malolo Cricket Season” that started in November 2023, through to January, 2024.
Oala explained Malolo is Cricket PNG’s junior hardball cricket program, and is a great cricket pathway program that enables past and current school students who have participated in the BSP School Kriket Program where they play with “cricket balls that are soft”, are then given the opportunity to play with a hard version of cricket balls” during the school holidays.
Lakani Oala thanked and congratulated all participating regional cricket organizers for their hard work at the Cricket PNG Malolo Centers:

2) WEST NEW BRITAIN Kimbe
3) JIWAKA-Jiwaka
4) MADANG – Karkar Island
5) EHP-Goroka
6) ORO-Popondetta
7)CENTRAL-Gaire, Tubusereia, Hood Lagoon, Gabagaba/Gomore, Iruale, Makerupu, Babaka, Kaparoko, Hula
8) MILNE BAY Bubuleta, Bou, Ahioma and Dogua.
Senior Domestic Cricket Manager Lakani Oalala said “The Malolo school cricket holiday program compliments the BSP School Kriket program around Papua New Guinea. Spaces for 250 to 300 teams will be made available for the Term 2 School Holidays in July 2024 around Papua New Guinea.”
