Carbine Club Of PNG sponsor Cricket PNG Lewas Tanya Ruma & Naoani Vare to join the Cricket PNG Player Placement Program in Australia.
President Greg Rudani and members of the Carbine Club of Papua New Guinea have contributed towards the Cricket PNG Lewas Player Placement program by sponsoring Tanya Ruma and Naoani Vare, who flew out Tuesday 22/11/22, to Brisbane Australia to train and play with the Western Suburb’s District Cricket Club in the Queensland Premier Cricket Competition.
Greg Rudani met Tanya Ruma and Naoani Vere at the Amini Cricket Ground and acknowledged past Cricket PNG President Helen McIndoe’s initiative in approaching the Carbine Club to support the Lewas. Cricket PNG CEO Greg Campbell thanked the Carbine Club of PNG and confirmed both Lewas attendance to a Carbine luncheon to talk about their training experience in Australia after they return in December.
Cricket PNG now has a total of seven (7) including five (5) Kumul Petroleum Lewas PNG Women sponsored by PacficAus Sports to train in Canberra, Australia with PNG Lewas Women’s Cricket Coach Kath Hempenstall.
Kumul Petroleum PNG Lewas Women’s Cricket Captain Kaia Arua with the remaining Lewas, remain in country to continue their training regime under the watchful eye of Assistant Coach Mahuru Dai and Strength and Conditioning Trainer Otto Wrakonei.
Cricket PNG is proud to be associated with the Carbine Club of PNG that has forty (40) members with sporting achievements such as PNG Gold Medallist in Swimming-Ryan Pini, PNG Squash Gold Medallist Derek Hunter, and President Greg Rudani-Boxing Silver Gloves Champion of Australia, 1974 Silver Medallist, and crowned South Australian Boxer of the year during the mid to late 70’s.
Carbine was established in 1961 in Victoria-Australia and continue to raise funds for various sports charities in Papua New Guinea including Cricket, through membership, monthly luncheons and two major fundraisers where corporate companies and individuals are invited sponsor and attend.
